16 Bangladesh Wickets Fall in a Day, Whitewashed by South Africa

After losing to India, Bangladesh has now also lost the series to South Africa. Najmul Hossain Shanto and his team faced defeat in consecutive home Tests.

Bangladesh faced a series loss not only abroad but now also on home soil. Last month, they lost two Tests to India, and now, they were defeated by South Africa on their own grounds. In Chattogram, South Africa beat Bangladesh by an innings and 273 runs in the second Test.

On the third day of the second Test, Bangladesh lost 16 wickets. They were bowled out for just 159 runs in the first innings, with Mominul Haque scoring 82 and Taijul Islam adding 30 runs. The rest of the team failed to score. Kagiso Rabada claimed 5 wickets for South Africa, while Dean Peterson and Keshav Maharaj took 2 each, and Senuran Muthusamy took 1.

Following Bangladesh’s follow-on, their batting did not improve in the second innings. They managed to cross 150 runs in the first innings but failed to do so in the second, getting bowled out for 143 runs. A total of 16 Bangladesh wickets fell in a single day.

In the second innings, Bangladesh’s top scorer was Hasan Mahmud, who came in at number 10 and scored 38 runs. Without his contribution, Bangladesh might not have even reached 125.
